Nia George is our North East Community Connector

The area I cover as the North East Community Connector is large and rural, starting at St Dogmaels and extending all the way down the coast to Dinas Cross then inland to the villages of Cilgerran, Crymych, Maenclochog Mynachlogddu, Efailwen, Clunderwen and Narberth.

"The job of a Community Connector is varied and no two days are the same. We are able to meet people in their homes to try to assess and advise on the best options whether that's connecting the individual to events, classes, facilities or support."

We are also fortunate to have special partnerships with Pembrokeshire County Council and the Hywel Dda Health Board, and part of the role is to attend meetings with our area GP surgeries to discuss individual cases where individuals need help, as well as being able to refer to health and social care services.

There are a range of charities and providers that we can refer people to for advice, support and special services.

As a team, our main objective is to enable individuals to live their lives the way they wish to, by enabling them to access advice and support that will have a positive influence and allow them to live independently in their own homes, improve their mental health and, more importantly, respect their wishes as an individual.

I am fortunate to have a good number of active communities within my area, communities that offer a wide range of options for residents. Of course, we don't have a magic wand to help us answer every problem that we meet, but we often find that the little things we can change can often have a big impact on the life of individuals. By reducing and overcoming obstacles, we see a positive difference on the people who reach out for help.
